Training and Living the Life
When you dedicate your life to moving fast and moving up under your own power you end up dedicating your life to training. Fortunately you can do most of your training in the activities you love. The Girl and I ski, bike, run and climb. This is a quite well rounded training regimen if you simply rotate activities.
Here’s Adam Ondra sending two 8C boulders, the first takes bloody knuckles, the second takes incredible flexibility.
It’s one thing to be a kid (according to Grizz kids can’t be dirtbags) and spend all of your time climbing, it’s another to build a life where you get to do what you love.
So here is my training plan for this week:
Run 30 min
Ab Ripper X, hips and back
Two hours bouldering – send V3+ overhang, repeat V3+ overhang, work V5 slab, laps on slopers.
Leg blasters 3X25
Send the V5 slab, work V4+ crimp on the vertical wall, work new V3/4 cave routes (5 tries on new ones), repeat blues with lock till fail.
Skin four laps at Brighton
Ab Ripper later in the day
Rest legs, 10 minute run and stretch at the gym.
Endurance climbing – 5X30 move sets focus on not getting pumped.
spin 60/90/120 min… whatever works
Skin… or rest.
